TheOnion has been updated. The new version is available here.
TheOnion installer now works in Max versions 5 to 9 and Max 9 64bit. This has been requested by many and has been tested in Max 8 and 9 64bit.
Also, included is a fix by Harry Compston that addressed the on/off issue with the lights and the ability for TheOnion to work with vray lights. |

TheOnion has been updated. The new version is available here.
There was a problem with renaming a layer after it was dropped onto a new group so I changed how the rename updates the layer and onion information. I also removed the text edit box since you can just right click or double click on a name to edit it. The edit box was part of the problem and it seemed redundant. |

ATTENTION:
I found a MAJOR problem with the renamer. It turns out, by default, the .NET ListView control (which the renamer uses) automatically sorts all the items that are written to it
The problem with that is, maxscript is looking at the objects in the order you selected them. This will cause the objects to be renamed with the wrong names. BIG PROBLEM.
Installer 5.07 is now up and addresses this problem. |

Installer 5.06 is now up. I changed the pathing to compensate for a bug in maxscript with relative paths.
TheOnion is here and ready to go. Thanks go out to David Humphreys who wrote TheOnion and Blur Studio who published it. The have both allowed me to fix the script to work with 3d Studio Max9. |

Attention: Since I just created a new pipeline for publishing these scripts I found out that three of the scripts were not being added to the installer. I am real sorry about this. From here on out the publish pipeline should be clean.
Installer 5.02 is now up. As I just stated there were three scripts that were being skipped by my automatic publishing tool. |

|
| 10/25/06 |
Installer 5.00 is now up. Lots of fixes and some new scripts. The scripts are now compatible with Max 9.I have stramlined how I compile the installer so expect to see updates on a MUCH more regular basis.
I should be updating the scripts weekly now. |
| 10/09/06 |
Many new scripts are on the way. I have also been working on lots of new free tutorials for this site. Keep an eye here for more updates.
In other news. I am really excited to announce that I will be teaching a course at www.cgsociety.org titled Character Rigging With Biped

| 3/22/06 |
Installer 4.03 is now up. Some bug fixes. The major update is to the Prep_Biped_For_Cloth_Sim script. It fixes problems with Max 8. I will be rewriting this script to incorporate it into a network simming front end. This will allow you to send off a sim to the network like a render. One sim to a machine (like an AVI). This will allow you to have as many sims as you have render slaves on the network. Keep checking back for updates. I will be cranking on it as well as many other scripts when I get back from GDC. |

I have been real busy getting ready for GDC and getting a lot of work wrapped up so I can be at the show with out a lot of work looming over me. That said, I will hopefully have a new install up by tomorrow. |

It's been a long time since I updated. I have been real busy. Good news is that I am going to be putting up a new installer with some new fixes soon. I also am going to be uploading some new tutorials as well. I have been working on three new DVD's which I hope to have ready in the next couple of months.
Also, I will be speaking at GDC 2006 on March 24th between 10:30am and 12:00pm. The title of the session is Rigging Beautiful and Believable Organic Characters.
There is a problem with the Prep_Biped_For_Cloth_Sim_Script. I have fixed it and it will be included in the upload tonight. |

Installer 4.00 is now up. New and updated scripts are listed on the maxscript page.
I have added some new scripts that take advantage of the Skin modifier in Max 8. These are scripts I have wanted to add since Max 5.
All the scripts will work in max 5, 6, 7 and 8. If there are any exceptions a pop up will alert you. In some cases there are scripts that work differently in Max 8 than in any other version of Max. These are handled automatically.
I will be updating my Gallery page/ Demo Reel to include work I have done since I left Blur soon. |

Well as many of you have already heard Autodesk has officially purchased Alias. This has been pretty much expected for years and many have thought it would happen in the next three to five years. I guess they wanted it to be a surprise and WOW it sure was.
Over the next couple of days I will be updating all of my script so that they work with both Max 7 and 8. I will also be adding more scripts to take advantage of some of the new functionality of Max 8.
I will also be adding two new video turorials.
One will be for creating tearing cloth. I may need to create some scripts to make the process a lot easier since it is a bit tedious.
The other will be a tutorial for using Cloth to simulate Jewelry. |

At 8:30 am PST my Mother succumbed to Cancer.
Since I had been caring for her at home I was not able to update my site or reply to any emails. I should be able to get back to work and updating my site in a week or two. I am sorry if you have been trying to reach me and I have not replied. When I am back to work I will post a message here.
In honor of my Mom I asked that you check out the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I have been wearing my yellow bracelet since the commercials were first aired on television and it is amazing how many others I have seen wearing them. It is a great way to show support for Cancer survivors and their families.
Also, if you have any free CPU time you may want to check out grid.org and contribute your computers free time to the Cancer Research Project. It is like the SETI@Home distributed computing project except in this case they are
processing molecular research from the
Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford in England and the National Foundation for Cancer Research. |
